Biography

Silvia graduated in Italian Literature and Cinema Studies at the University of Rome with a major in Communications and New Media and started working as a press agent for Villa Celimontana Jazz, one of the most important Jazz festivals in Italy. In 2005, she moved to New York where she pursued graduate studies in Digital and Graphic Design at NYU, and worked as the art director at WET Productions, a production company producing media that challenges female stereotypes and advocates for equality.

She received a Master in Fine Arts in Graphic Design at Colorado State University in 2014, and started teaching Graphic Design at CSU. In 2016 she started working as  Design & Communications Manager for The Gregory Allicar Museum of Art at CSU.

Since 2018 she is a coordinator of the Social Justice thru the Arts program: a collaboration and partnership between the Alliance Program, CSU Dance, and the Center for Women’s Studies and Gender Research.  SJTA is a summer institute that teaches basic social justice concepts and advocacy through integrated work and exploration in the arts.

In 2019 she joined the Women's and Gender Studies Advisory Board, where she serves as special faculty and in the Communication Committee.

In January 2021 Silvia became the Director of the Hatton Gallery and Digital Performing Space in the Department of Art and Art History.

She cultivates her passion for singing through study and work as a soul singer for the independent band urbanSoul; and  her love for Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian martial art and dance form, her Capoeira name is Onda (wave).
